Larger house is the former site of Liberty School, a one-room schoolhouse in Jarvis Township. The narrow sidewalk and concrete storm cellar are still visible in this photo, and also on Google street view from September 2021. The school operated through the 1951-52 school year, when it graduated 9 students from 8th grade. Liberty was the last of the Troy, Illinois rural school units to close. On November 28, 1952 voters approved the sale of the school. Liberty was auctioned on January 17, 1953. Louis Willimann was the successful bidder. One of the first reuses of the school was for the Acme 4-H Club meetings (the Willimann family was active in the club).
Current address is now 402 S Liberty Rd, Troy, IL 62294.
