This is the site of the former Siebert School, a one-room schoolhouse in Alhambra Township. The original school was erected by John Siebert, who left sufficient funds so that the "township need not pay any school tax" according to the obituary for his sister, Marie Siebert Schneider in the March 14, 1904 edition of the Edwardsville Intelligencer (the Siebert's came here from Germany) Mr. Siebert also built the First Baptist church directly across the road from the school. In 1884, a new church building was erected in Alhambra.
Siebert School was sold at auction on May 26, 1951.
