Leslie and Lilian Barnett Farm
My Great Grandparents
My Dad grew up on that farm. I visited there many times and had such wonderful memories
This is where I was born in the old house and although the house and mobile home are no longer there, there are millions of memories and even still dream about that home place.
Hi Kathy,
What did your family use the mobile home for?
Alexis, we lived in the mobile home in Anna, IL when my mother worked at the State Hospital and was handy for her and I lived in it all through high school. When I moved away, my father's health declined and mom retired. They both wanted to get away from the busy location in Anna to the home place. The mobile home was moved in Sept., 1971 and my dad passed away in January 20, 1972 on the worst winter ice storm night they had. The heat went out and mom was all alone. She lived there until 2004 when an F4-5 tore through the Massac County area and although her trailer was intact, things were broken and she moved to an assisted living in Metropolis, ILL. All her family loved going to visit her and there was always a trailer full of people with massive amounts of food she prepared on her small stove and oven. She loved company and when she had to go to a nursing home at 100, her health declined and she died at 103. She lived 30 years after my dad passed away. TMI?
Hi Kathy,
Definitely not TMI! We ask these kinds of questions so we can get people to tell their stories and memories from their homes/properties. Thank you for sharing.
