Foreground: Waverly Elementary School
Upper Right: Waverly High School

The elementary school still remains, largely as photographed. The high school was replaced in the early 1990s.

Oh yes, I have a connection to both schools! First, my Grandpa Jim Lythell was custodian for 26+ years, then my Daddy was for another 26+ years. I attended 8th grade as the first class in the new Grade School....and 4 years of High School in that regal building! Actually it was 5 years because some of us were sent down to the High School for our 7th grade, Mrs. Thomas was our teacher! I spent many, many hours on the tractor mower, mowing that football field...and surround school yard! Daddy would trim with his push mower. Grandpa had a huge motorized reel mower that he mowed the entire property with, by himself. Arg! When did he find the time?

Graduated from Waverly that year. Looks like summertime, the office staff at the grade school parked out front then.
