Former JL Clark factory in Stillman Valley. Railroad is the Chicago Great Western which was later removed. JL Clark is still in business in Rockford and makes lithographed metal products. Many of the Planters Mr. Peanut dishes popular in the 1950's were made here, as well as Scotch Tape canisters and at one time, containers for Tangee cosmetics. JL Clark ran two shifts here and employed many local people. The building faces Walnut St. and is south of Il. Rt 72. After JL Clark ceased operations here, several other companies operated at the location including Ekstrom Carlson and Toolcrafters. Recently the machinery was sold off and the building is for sale.
