The home was built just after the close of the Civil War for D. F. Kellogg and his wife Helen, who was the daughter of Colonel William Ross. Soon after the house was built, Kellogg suffered a reverse of fortune, and the property was: passed into other hands. At one time it was used as an apartment house but now it's a single family home again and has been for many years.
