This is the farm where my dad, August Schulz, was born in 1898. His 7 sisters and 1 brother were all born here. My grandparents, Jacob & Elizabeth Schulz owned the farm. I was born in 1937. My 3 sisters were born here also. My mom and and dad took over the farm when they married in 1931. Our original big red barn burned in 1960 due to lightning and was replaced by the barn you see on the right. The house and other buildings look the same as when I lived there all those many years ago. It was a wonderful place to grow up and I miss it very much. I went to Klein School, a one room country school, until 7th grade. After that we rode the bux to New Athens. I graduated from New Athens Community High School in 1954.
I was born in the house on this farm, as was my father and his siblings before me. I lived here the first 23 years of my life.
