At the top of the photo, the old truss bridge carrying State Route 13 across the Kaskaskia River is seen. This bridge was demolished after the current bridge was constructed less than a mile downstream. This photo also shows the former location of the river bed before the Kaskaskia was channelized. The eastern concrete pier which once supported the truss bridge is still there. View looks WSW.
