Center of photo is the Georgetown United Methodist Church at the corner of Main and Stone St. Below the church (across Main St is the old Marathon Station on the SE corner of Main and Mill St. H&R Block is in that location now. On the right side of Marathon is another Station. I think it was Standard Oil or Amoco maybe, but that is now where Gocken Auto Repair stands. Same building I believe. To the left of the Marathon is what was know as Kerr McGee or aka Deep Rock full service gas station. It is now an auto detailing shop. To the right side of the church is where the Hum Dinger once stood. It was an ice cream stand that many of the town's youth spent their summers working at. It was torn down and made into a parking lot for the church.
Georgetown, Illinois 61846

The old Marathon Station is now where H&R Block Tax Service is at.
I used to love going to the Hum Dinger when I was with my grandparents visiting friends in Georgetown.

Across the street from the Deep Rock filling station and a little south (large house at the top of the I in the VINTAGE watermark) is Charlie Spang's house. Charlie was a one time mayor of Georgetown. House was later razed and a new office built for Dr. E. G. Andracki on the site. Office is now occupied by Dr. Gindi.
