This is a photo of Howard & Helen Harshbarger's farm on route 30 just south of lake Renwick in Plainfield. From 1954 until 1966 we lived on Culver st. which is just out of the upper right corner of this photo. The lighter portion of the pasture in the upper right is the area of grass we (the neighborhood kids) would cut for our baseball field. Several kids can be seen playing ball in this photo. I'm sure that I'm one of those ballplayers. If there was a game, I was there. We had a lot of fun times and great memories growing up in that neighborhood. There were also some not so great memories. In the clearing directly behind the house are two small buildings these were abandoned hog sheds. The summer between 4th & 5th grade someone had the bright idea to steal cigarettes from our parents and go to these hog sheds and smoke. Well that lasted about a week before we got caught and got our butts whipped. Like I said, fun times.
