This is Cronin School, built in 1863 and now relocated on the campus of Joliet Junior College (JJC). It was named for the Cronin Family who owned land around the school. The May 31, 1992 edition of the Chicago Tribune published a story about old one room schools and stated that Cronin School was moved to JJC in 1987 and opened to the public (after extensive renovations) in April 1991. The school had closed in 1950 and was used as a residence through the 1960s by the Larkin family, who donated the school to JJC as a living history museum. At the time, the Larkins were using the old school building for storage.
