Seil Farm and nursery. The barns are gone but the house remains.

This location is old photo of Seil Road Farm. Current day, the entrance to Sarver Drive (Ron Lee Estates) is located just east or left of the house about 100 yards and Canterbury St. is now location to the right of the photo about 100 yards from the barn in the right of the photo. Ron Lee Estates subdivision now occupies most of the land behind the barns. Sarver Drive, Ron Lee Drive, Jensen St. and Canterbury Drive in Unincorporated Troy Twp, IL 60404

I grew up in this house, and lived here when this was taken in 1971. Emery Seil was my father. My late brother Terry added comments to other photos on this website. The trailer in the center was where my grandmother Minnie Seil lived (Emery's mother). The darker building visible just to the right of that was the shop for Seil Nursery and Peggy's Giftshop (my mother) with tools along the left aisle and knickknacks along the right aisle. My mother and I left in 1975. My last time visiting while my father was alive was 1979, and the barn was still there. He died in 1980. New owners have since done a great deal of renovation on the inside of the house, but the outside looks largely the same. I was able to see the inside during a visit in 2004.
