The large trees are remnants of a house here many years prior. The Day family owned this land in the early 1900s and the main farmstead was a quarter-mile east. In the 1930s and 1940s there was a house and pasture here with a small grove of trees; those in this photo are what's left over. These two houses were removed around 2002, presumably in anticipation of either commercial development or expansion of the Plainfield Quarry.
