Grandma's farm, where Mom grew up, was in pretty bad shape when this photo was taken!
This is the O'Brien farm. William O'Brien was my grandfather and we lived there for 3 years when I was very young.
My uncle, Len Greenback, farmed that property for decades, working with grandpa and taking over when grandpa passed away in 1963.
The buildings are all gone now.
The Bishop Blanchette Center for the Diocese of Joliet now resides on the northwest corner of this property where I spent summer vacations with my Grandma O'Brien on the farm where our mom was raised. Such great memories! Our mother Mary O'Brien Walsh was present when the chapel was dedicated for the diocese and happy to know the diocese was planning to farm several acres of the property.
There's a more recent photo of this farm in your collection, 1975, I think. It would be nice if the digital version of the 1975 photo could be acquired for less than the list price of $179.
Check that. the better picture is actually from around 1971, I believe. It's a nicer picture because the farm was in better shape in that older picture.
