Photo 39-IWI-27 from 1964

Comments

This farmstead was part of a 300 (or so) acre farm owned by Harry and Dorothy Espenscheid. Not long after this photo, ComEd purchased about 2/3's of this land to build the Cherry Valley substation. In 1968 the Espensheid's donated the south 40 acres to the Rockford Park District, which is now the Espensheid Memorial Forest Preserve.
