This was my Grandpa Charles Craig’s house. It is the house he grew up in and later after retiring from farming he moved back to it. He sold the house and 5 acres to the current owner in the late 90s. My brother in law and I mow the grass fields for hay, and we cash rent the rest.

Hi there! It's fascinating to hear about your Grandpa Charles Craig's house, and how it holds such special memories for your family. The photo you commented on was taken in 1982. Could you provide any specific details or anecdotes about that time period in Grant County? We'd love to hear more about your family's connection to the area. Also, you mentioned farming - what kind of farming did you and your brother-in-law do on the property?

So, I was born in 1982, and I have pictures of me playing in the yard and driveway from around the time this picture was taken. My great grandpa built this house and the land was purchased from my great grandmas uncle. If I remember the stories correctly her uncle was the original homestead owner from around the time Indiana became a state. My grandpa, uncles and dad had a dairy farm just east of this homestead that was functioning till the mid 70s. This part of the farm was mostly row cropped for feed. My brother and I mow about 10 acres of what was the pasture for hay to feed our small herd of beef and dairy cattle. The total size of this part of the farm was 80 acres. 65 of which are planted crop, 10 pasture and 5 that the house is on and the part that my grandpa sold.
