This is our current property. However, it looks much different. The house, barn, and corn crib are no longer standing. My understanding is that Brownsburg FD did a controlled burn on the home, sometime around 2007. The barn was partially standing when we first looked at buying the property in 2012. The previous owner ended up tearing it the rest of the way down before we purchased it.
To add to the above comment, this farm was located at this modern address:
10092 Maloney Rd
Brownsburg, IN, 46112
Archival research indicates that this is the farm and land of the Marvel and Simms family. First, it belonged to George W. Marvel (1821-1903), who farmed the land in the 1850s, 60s, and 70s. George was the son of Robert Marvel (1803-1889) who was one of the earliest settlers of Brown Township, coming in 1835 and settling just northeast of this property.
It then passed to his daughter, Rose Marvel Simms (1875-1959) and her husband Leonzo Simms (1874-1941). The house pictured was likely built by them - the style points to a build date of around 1920. It is also likely this house replaced the original 19th century house George occupied.
