My husband and I were the last people to live in this house! We rented it from Woody and Phurdell Fields from 1985-1987, as newlyweds! It was an awesome farm!

The house, built in 1814, was brick, with fine walnut cabinetry throughout. There was a bell in the little tower on the house. There were 7 exterior doors, and 5 fireplaces, appeared to have all of the original windows/glass! The stone barn, built in 1856, was in amazing shape as well. The chicken ladders in the roof system ran end to end in one continuous board, some 80' long, if we remember right! There were also pairs of stone pillars that had been gate posts at the edges of the yard. There was a large flat rock under the tree in the front yard, for sitting and visiting in the shade. The old tree was struck by lightning and half of it fell down while we lived there, obviously after this photo was taken. Good memories!

Almost forgot, this was originally built by the Lloyd family, and the barn was built by Anthony Rock, who married a Lloyd daughter.

We own this property today. The house is just a ruins but the barn is still in good shape. We have done some stonework and put a new roof on it. We want to rebuild the brick house it’s just tragic such an incredible historic house burned to the ground years before we purchased the land. The stone pillars are still there though!
