This is Monroe Central Jr/Sr High School on the south side of highway 32 midway between Farmland and Parker. The school was the result of a consolidation of the Parker and Farmland schools in the mid 60's. The original building on this site was destroyed during a widespread outbreak of tornadoes in the spring of 1974. Miraculously, no one was killed here at the school. Across the the highway the Thornburg Funeral Home is shown. It was severely damaged or perhaps even destroyed, I don't recall. For a different angle of view, see photo #19.
Additional research indicates that Stoney Creek School was also part of the consolidation effort that resulted in the Monroe Central building of 1963. For an excellent account of the Monroe Central school district which at the time of formation in 1956 also included Green School, visit the district's website.
