This is my mother's family farm. Her grandfather was Enoch Heratage Krom and he lived here with his second wife Elizabeth Gray. The property had been part of her family's farm. They were married in 1860. The right side of the house is the original log cabin that they lived in. His fourth wife, Ella Talbott was my mother's grandmother, and they added the left side of the house before her mother was born. Mamie Krom, my grandmother, was born in the "new part" in 1888. She married John Adams and they lived on the farm all their lives (except for a brief few years early in their marriage. In January of 1977, John passed away and Mamie went to live with my mother, Virginia Adams Monroe in Versailles. The farm remains in the family, part of the Monroe Family Trust. Since this photo was taken, the brooder house and the chicken house (unseen in this pic) by the barn, and the summer kitchen and woodshed to the left of the house have all been taken down. The "new part" of the house was taken down as well, but the original log cabin remains.
