This is not quite a mile west of the crossroads in Metz, on the north side of Metz Road, looking northeast. This was where my great-grandparents, Hugh Lee and Myra (Warner) Gilbert, lived until their deaths in 1953 and 1954, respectively. My parents, Stanley and Elizabeth Gilbert, owned the acreage stretching out behind this home and my dad called it the "North 40."
