I grew up in Centerville, Iowa. I would have been 7 or 8 at the time this picture was taken. I've seen many movies from this drive-in. At night, driving past the screen on Hwy 5 (highway out of view on this photo but it would be at the top of the photo if it were in view) I would always love looking at the screen to see what action was playing out as we drove by. I remember feeling so discouraged when they removed the drive-in. For the longest the screen just stood there as a remind of what used to be. It is now just a piece of land without a screen. The house in the background is till there the last time I was in Centerville. I now live in Georgia and always look at the empty spot where the movies used to play out.
