My Dad and Grandfather, Mike & Bill Braun, built this house in 1946 for my mom and dad who were married in 1946. According to the newspaper article I have "the house was built of native lumber sawed out last winter." It is on 128 acres located 5 miles northwest of Sumner. The Brauns bought the ground in 1943. The house is 24x30. They built the barn in 1947. They moved to Fredericksburg around 1958, I think. They rented out the farm to two families that I remember. In 1971 my husband, Larry Shonka, and I rented the farm until 2021. I am their 2nd daughter, Janice. With the exception of a few building they were all there. My mother sold the farm in 2021 and all but the old machine shed were torn down with a new home being built. The grove of trees on the left of the picture were also removed. Many memories were made on that farm.
