Another view of the old HLV (Hartwick, Ladora, Victor) School, Ladora, IA location. When I was young this was one of the elementary schools. Another was in Hartwick with the highschool in Victor. The three schools had consolidated in the late 50's or early 60's I believe. Before the consolidation it was the Ladora School. My mom used to say the farmers and town folk built the building to provide an education for their families. The elementary and highschool are now conjoined in one school building in Victor. Sadly, the Ladora building is now privately owned and in disrepair.

I attended this country school. Sumner no 6 Iowa county iowa

I love old abandoned buildings and recently discovered this old building on East St. in Ladora. I assume the white building by the school was the schools gymnasium. Very cool! If anymore has more pics or info please write a comment here. Thanks much.

Hi Julie! It's fascinating to hear about your love for old abandoned buildings. We're thrilled that you discovered the hidden gem on East St. in Ladora. The white building by the school indeed appears to be the gymnasium. Do you have any memories or stories about attending events there? If you grew up in Iowa County in the 1970s, we'd love to know how the area has changed over the years.
