Ward Laufer was my father. He was born in 1901 and operated a gas station at this location for many decades before retiring in the late 70's. After he retired, the gas station was razed and a Casey's was built on this site. See Photo 7-FTM-17. As a kid, I spent a lot of time with my father working at the gas station. I have many fond memories of this building and my dad's customers who would stop by. The building had a high peaked roof and a shake shingle exterior which was an indication of its construction in the early 1900's. I pumped a lot of gas and repaired many a flat tire at the gas station. The photo is a flash back to days gone by.
