This is the farm I grew up on from 1953-1971. My dad started farming the rented land after he got home from the service in 1945 and farmed for 60+ years. My parents moved to town in 1999, the house was torn down and my brother from southern Iowa farmed it, hauling equipment back and forth. In 2014 the farm was sold. Farm demolition started May 2, 2015 and was completed by June 2. The last photo taken was a day later of bare dirt surrounded by corn. The new owner was gracious enough to let me have the barn cupola if I could find someone to get it down and the owners sons would salvage the barn wood. As it turned out, a son of a good friend and army buddy of my dads was able to take it down, it now sits in my backyard, and I’m glad to see it every day. The best days of my life.
