This was my grandparents farm, William Arthur (Art) and Georgia Martin. It and all the surrounding farms, were purchased by Drees Developers and it is now part of Hempstead Subdivision. This land is now unrecognizable. Over the years they farmed dairy and beef cattle, hay, and tobacco. The farm was historic and before the structure (farm house) in this picture was built, there was a log cabin that dated back to the late 1700, early 1800's. When it burned the farmhouse was built. There was a family cemetery belonging to the Johnson family. The developer was able to locate and move only one body, that of Manoah Johnson.
