This was my Grandma Peace's farm. Originally a log structure, this house is well over 100 years old. I have a photo of my Grandma, Grandpa, their first child when she was just 3 years old...and the entire family clan, seated with my great-grandparents who lived in the house at the time...all posing in front of the house. The photo was taken in the early to mid-1920's. My grandparents assumed ownership at some point and Grandma lived there until her death in 1999 at the age of 97. The house, while unoccupied all of these years, stayed in the family. Sometime during the early morning hours of yesterday, 9-20, someone decided it shouldn't stand an longer and set it ablaze and it burned to the ground...exposing the magnificent poplar log structure that was it's strength for all of those years. The site of so many precious family memories is now a smoldering pile of lumber, nails and tin. :-(
