The old Hyden Grade School center building beside the new Grade School. O the left of the old Grade School is the Hyden Health Department. Across the road from the old Grade School was the Giavonni's Pizza place.
Hyden Elementary has moved and the old school is now part of HCC & the Hyden Grade School is now part of the Teleworks program
When I went to school there I thought it was beautiful with it sawdust on the floors to clean and oil them. The huge beautiful jump in the middle of the school and class rooms on all sides and the beautiful full balcony where you could watch down on a ballgame being played The new school wasn’t there had a white plank building there that was the lunchroom and size trailers for the library and some classes. Was all just marvelous 😊. Loved going down and collecting chocolate milk the kids paid a penny a piece for and getting the fountain drinks that came out with dropping a cup , then adding ice, the best on earth then filled it with a soft drink. Teachers were struck and. Nice and you learned something. 1964-1975. The best time of my life. Loved that school
And wondering what happen to the people that were buried in the cemetery beside the school.
