Dr. Henthorn's Home on old US 27, before the trees matured to a wooded area. Later became Nemcik's Apple Store. Buildings are gone now. Clinton County, Michigan

Doc Henthorne was our family’s doctor for many years & a good friend of my Gramp, Claude Maxwell who ran Glaspies Drugstore in downtown St. John’s. This would have been the same time that the Steele hotel was across Higham St. on the same side as Gramp’s drugstore. When my parents had an appt. w Doc Henthorne, Gramp would send us over to the hotel for lunch & he & my parents would come over shortly. He always had the best sherbet in the in stainless steele containers with the cylinder paper inserts. Great stuff & my brother & I thought we were in heaven!! 😊

Dr Henthorn was my grandfather. He was my mother Evangeline dad. I remember my grandfather talking about Claude Maxwell. My dad ran the restaurant at the Steel Hotel. Got my first haircut at Hayhoe barber shop at Steel Hotel. I was born in 1944 and my brother Charley, Arthur Caudy was born 1946.
