I grew up here. My teenage years, I lived right behind the Britton elevator, seen in the background. I was married in 1982 and our wedding reception was at the Britton Hotel, seen in the picture, where the cars are parked. Definitely much busier during those years. There was a barber shop, a grocery store, a bar, a bank, a restaurant, a hardware store, a post office, a fire station, a town cop, a grain elevator, a gas station, a church, and a K-12 school...probably more, but that's what I remember. My favorite was Christmas...you could look forward to the same decorations every year. Now, the hotel is vacant. Things have definitely changed, but a lot of the original families still have roots there. Probably always will.

My car is facing the tracks 6th in from M-50 2001 Silver Dodge Diplomat 2 dr. Probably some polka festival there. The American Legion ran it at that time. Dick Vallie and Linda Witkoff several others worked there. Good times as I worked at the elevator next to it at that time.
