8145 smiths creek rd
Hi Christina! We're glad you found this aerial photo on Vintage Aerial. 1982 must have been an interesting time in St. Clair County, MI. Can you share any memories or stories from that period? Were there any significant changes or events in the area? We'd love to hear more about your connection to 8145 Smiths Creek Rd and any information you might have.
Hi Alexis,
I just bought the home and was trying to find history on it. I donβt know anything about it other than it was built in 1903.
Christina,
I see a Frank Smith as the landowner of the 40 acres upon which your house presently sits (1916). That parcel was owned by L. S. Smith (L., possibly being 'Lawrence') in the 1870s. A Sebastian Smith owned 60 acres to the immediate west of the Frank Smith farm. All of these Smiths are interred at Saint Philip Neri Cemetery in Columbus.
It's been my experience that build dates of houses are not always reliable. For example, a house that was moved to a location may be dated either by the house's true age or the date of the move.
The plat maps can be found by searching Google for 'Wales Township historic plat maps'.
This aerial is a very nice shot of your new home.
Good luck.
