Johnsville Meats. They had a holding yard for live animals delivered, slaughtered & processed meats for customers who often brought their own animals in for processing. Also processed venison during deer hunting season. I believe they were closed down by the State Health Dept. for unsanitary conditions.

The plant was later purchased by Tony Sandler of the singing duo Sandler & Young. Tony Sandler was Belgian and started buying horses which were slaughtered and processed for export to France, Belgium and related countries where horse meat is just as popular as beef. All this was kept relatively quiet but word eventually got out what the plant was doing which caused an uproar. At the time, meat prices had risen (early 1970's) due to rising feed costs and horse meat was at a premium along with beef & pork. The plant was shut down a second time and Sandler sold his interest in the endeavor.

Eventually, the building became a veterinary clinic and was eventually replaced with a new building if I recall correctly.
