Hi, I just visited this farm with my dad (83 years old) a few weeks ago. I took pictures of the abandoned barn and farm house and other building still on the property. This farm was built by a Fraasch, I believe Elmer Fraasch was his first and last name. My dad's dad, William Fraasch was raised on this farm and my dad spent many summer days on this farm as a kid. It was last in the family when Elmer Fraasch (nephew of my dad) farmed the land. The buildings have not been occupied since the late 1960's or early 1970's.
Correction, my father's grandfather's name who built this farm was Ewald Fraasch.
My grandfather Homesteaded this farm when homesteading started in the late 1800's. My father was born on this farm in 1896. He had four brothers and one sister also born here. The farm is located four miles west of Bellingham, Mn and the Yellowbank River runs through it . The home and farm buildings are located on the west side of the Yellowbank River. The farm buildings have not been used since my uncle Ed passed away in 1980. His son, Elmer, inherited the farm and he soon moved to South Dakota and leased the 400 acre farm to a neighbor that farmed the land but did not occupy the buildings.
Correction, Uncle Ed passed away in the late 1960's, his son , Elmer, passed away in 1980.
William Joachim Fraasch (Senior) homesteaded this farm. His son William Fred John Fraasch (Junior) was the father of my uncle Kenneth Fraasch and the grandfather of 15 grandchildren including Jim and me. My great uncle Ed Fraasch passed away in 1968.
