We purchased this property in 2003 and still reside here
This was the original pine county poor farm

At one time was this run as a nursing home by a person name Holsnagel (sp?) If so, my grandmother spent her last several years there and died there at age 78.

I lived in this building from 1955 thru 1960. My father managed the poor farm. The barn was moved
to the Fritz farm near Hinckley.

Hello,
What kind of crops were grown on the farm? Do you have a memories from the farm you would like to share?

Wally Holznagel I would love to connect with you and hear about the poor farm back in those days, and would love to see any pictures you may have , I don’t think it’s changed much over the years , there’s not much written either. Thanks!!
I’m still the current owner (2023)
You can find me on fb

My parents managed Holznagel Boarding Home. We moved there in 1955, and loved living there. It was never a nursing home. We were licensed for 32 residents. My mom did most of the cooking and managing of the home. We had wonderful people that lived there, and enjoyed them very much.

Marsha Pttlekow, was your Grandmother's name Mrs. Wahlberg, not sure of spelling? If so, I remember her very well. She was amazing, and I have some fun stories about her.

Thank you for sharing your memories of Holznagel Boarding Home with us, Cheryl. It sounds like you and your family made a great impact on the residents there. The Vintage Aerial photo from 1983 shows the property surrounded by trees, do you remember what the surrounding area was like during that time? Has anything changed since then? We love hearing stories about local history and appreciate you taking the time to share yours with us.
