This has been in Coye Family since 1939! Being operated by third generation of Coyes. Tornado came through in 2008, destroyed house, large part of barn and machinery barn that the storm literally picked up and landed in a heap down the hill. Did not damage any of machinery stored there in barn. It was catagory 2 tornado according to Meterologist from Binghamton with125 mph winds! The L on barn had roof completely ripped off, went through my sons house and almost completely destroyed the house. The L had 38 head of young stock. Our neighbor, Dr. Evans,DVM and his two sons came up and checked the stock over for injuries. One heifer had a small scratch, we are very grateful for wonderful neighbors and friends. My husband was in the barn, saw the wind bending the trees over so he tried to get out. The cement blocks on the south wall caved in and he was hit by some of the blocks. GFD took him to ER at Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich. He was injured but not as bad as it could have been!! Utilities were back on by midnight, it took a pole with a transformer on it out. This happened around 4:30 pm.
Wow..never heard about the tornado...so glad know one or anything was seriously hurt. What a beautiful picture.
