This is the Homestead of my Grandfather, Broadie and Grandmother, Sexie Herron. My Grandfather built this house. When they lived in the house they had no indoor plumbing. They used a well. In 1964, my father built an indoor bathroom where the back patio used to be located. When we moved into the house, we were a family with 7 children. Mama called the Snow Camp fire Department to come and burn down the old barn because she was afraid it would fall in on one of us children. The smokehouse near the left side of the house caught fire another time when some of my sisters and brothers played with matches. It was replaced with a metal building. Later in the early 70’s my Dad added two bedrooms onto the left side of the house. Trailers were brought in to house family members and for workshops and storage. Thank you for sharing this wonderful aerial photo. It is the only photo we have of the original buildings.
