The row of buildings in the center still stands. The standalone structure to the right of center was a Radio Shack, I believe the last one open in the county. The photographer would have been over what is now a Home Depot. Most, or all, of the structures in the upper left corner are gone and a Wal-Mart occupies the site now. The road in the foreground is NC 130/Holden Beach Rd, road to the left is Main St. Shallotte, NC

The church is the old First Baptist Church of Shallotte. That site is still unbuilt (as of 5/11/2021). The way they are cramming stuff in Shallotte, it may not be vacant for long.
