Village Grocery & Garden Shop, Franklin Town Ship Fire Station beside

In 1965 the grocery store/gas station on the corner was owned and operated by Jack Fries. He lived in the white house directly behind the store. Mr. Fries sold the store to Tommy Thomason in the 1970's when the name changed to Village Grocery and Garden Shop. The Franklin Fire Station shown was the original structure built in 1951 and was demolished in 1978 when the current station was constructed next to it.
