13136 Garffe Sherron Rd, Wake Forest - the Doug & Helen Darch Dairy Farm - edited to correct address

The Address is 13136 Garfee Shearon Road rather than Powell Road.
This Dairy Farm was started in 1952 by two Ohio State grads lured to south by promise of nice weather. The prior owners were Vance Baily. The creamery to which the milk was sold was Pine State. The herd started with 17 bred heifers and no milking parlor. The herd was eventually to grow to 80 cows and was the top producing herd one year. Eventually three up right silos were built and the barns were expanded significantly. Today the farm is being sold probably to be developed into a subdivision

The land out there is so beautiful....hate to think of what another subdivision will do to the trees, etc. The Darches are such good people. I miss Lee.
