my family moved to the Cunningham farm in 1945. i was six years old. my parents, bud and florence Russell farmed on the halves with owners john and edna cunningham who had a summer home
up the road. the farm prospered and eventually we got a indoor bathroom and closed in two porches. Dad had a hog barn raised in the 50's. we had approximately 40 head of milk cows, sheep, chickens, beef cattle and one mean bull. my sister was born there in 1948 and i lived there until i was married. we harvested corn, oats, wheat and soy beans all done with a old farmal tractor and old fashioned farm machinery. my mom fed hands their lunch and we had a acre garden which was preserved and fed us all winter. it was a wonderful place to grow up. my parents and the Cunninghams have all passed. several years ago the house and buildings were torn down. sad to see it all gone but the memories are still there

Marcia, is this farm on Moorefield Road? I'm trying to find my sister's house. The original one burned down in 1980 and was rebuilt. I'm looking for a copy of the old house for her. Your family history of farm life is very interesting.
