This was my grandparents' homestead where they raised 16 children (one of which was my dad) and where my grandma babysat me every Friday when my mom worked at the beauty salon in Metamora (which is now a tax office). My grandpa called me Missy Friday most of my life! I remember being chased around the front of the house by my grandma's evil turkey, Tom. I told her it was about time we ate him. The little enclosed part of the front porch is where my grandpa ran his seed business, Gleckler Seedmen. He is credited with many varieties of heirloom tomato breeds and I still see requests and searches for Gleckler Seedmen online today. I have a cousin who does some seeds on the side but there is no longer a printed catalog.
