My father, Gene (Joe) Shumaker worked for C.W. from 1946 thru 1973 when he died at age 54 of cancer. He was hired there after WWII where he had been a mechanic in the South Pacific. He was very grateful for his job. Mr. Sommers sat with my mother and me at his bedside in the Lodi hospital the day he died. The mechanics were all a great band of brothers. Fond memories of all of them.
