This farm on Kessler-Frederick Road was bought by my grandparents, Bob & Emily Hughes, in the late 1960s. The photo was taken the year before I was born. It's likely the same picture that my grandparents purchased from the photographer, who sold door-to-door. The final framed version had been colorized and retouched by airbrush, and is still hanging in one of the homes on the current "compound." The farm is now the residence of my parents and looks a lot different now.
The home in the foreground is a craftsman-style home built from a kit in the 1920s. The original home is visible behind it, inside the circle drive ┠although it had been converted to a garage by the time this photo was taken. It was recently demolished. A newer residence was added to the property in the mid-2000s. I hope my parents will restore the craftsman home, which is now in need of some TLC.
The locals don't appreciate what architectural treasures they have. I have lived in Sarasota, Florida for almost 25 years now, where a craftsman home like that on a small downtown lot would be worth more than the whole farm in Ohio.
