My husband (Ronald Haar) & I (Annette Griffin-Haar) raised our children here. We bought this home from the Walenga (sp?) estate auction (formerly the Carl & Merdy Widmer estate) on Father’s Day 1992. The home was in total disrepair at that time. Much blood sweat & tears were shed here to make it a beautiful home again. While under reconstruction, we found the purchase receipt from Johnson lumber in the walls for $100,000.00 dated 1951, confirming of our research! The house began construction in 1948 by Carl Widmer. He built his wife Marty the dream home she always wanted. This photo gives explanation to a lot of things we uncovered while redoing the home & is a delight to finally see her in her original beauty as we could have only imagined prior! In April 2008 we lost it due to a house fire, sadly, less than a year & 1/2 after loosing our only son Mathew Haar in an auto accident. This address was 20950 W.SR. 51 Genoa, Ohio 43430.
