2483 Israel- Somers Road. My father, Glen Weber built this house for his growing family on 5 acres of land parceled off my next door grandparent's farm? (Elbert & Sadia Durham) My sister Kim Weber Cohen and I moved in when we were 2 & 6 months respectively. Glen & Teresa Weber went on to have 3 more daughters- Kathy Weber, Christina Weber Jackson & Conda Weber Halcomb. It was a wonderful (but isolated) place to grow up. Large gardens provided year round food thanks to canning and freezing, tree swings, the creek, the vast yard for impromptu games of baseball, kickball, football or freeze tag! The woods provided a cool place to escape the heat of summer. Somehow our "log cabin clubhouse's" walls never rose above 2 feet. We spent hours each week mowing the large lawn - a task I always enjoyed and still enjoy doing to this day. Sometime in the mid 60's my father added on to the original 3 bedroom, 1 bath home- enlarging the kitchen, adding 1.5 bathrooms, large family room and master bedroom suite. Finally we had a dishwasher, ping pong table and a color TV...and I got my own bedroom! My sisters and I were launched into adulthood from this house and returned for visits with husbands and collectively 9 grandchildren. Many, many happy memories. My parents sold the house in the late 90's/early 00's and retired to Peachtree City Georgia where they still live.
I have many wonderful memories of my time at this house! Kim and I were best friends and I lived close enough that a few times my parents let me bicycle over to spend the day. We swung on vines back in the woods and played with the dog. My "after prom" party my senior year was in that family room. We especially had fun with the intercom system in the house.
