I spent a lot of time here as a child as this was the Jone's homestead. My mother, her sister and brother grew up here. Although the back of the barn has been torn down, and the front corn bins are now gone from the front on the road side, the main part still remains. I have pictures of the original home before renovations. When I stayed there with my Grandmother, my room was the top window above the picture window. The two large trees are still there. Grandma had a large garden to the left of the house at the field line. My brother and I spent time playing in Grandpa's workshop at the back of the property.
My Grandparents home, as my cousin Cathy stated. The barn and grain bins are long gone. Myself, as a child I never saw Grandpa’s workshop in the backyard. I do remember the gas pump though and remember my Dad removing it. Once Grandma did not live at the homestead any longer, the home was sold to a couple who didn’t live there very long and then to Dean and Diane Eagleson. Not much has changed, the wood barn was torn down and replaced by a small pole barn and the home is no longer white with black shutters, but tan with green shutters. I sure do miss the well water.
