I grew up on this farm. Now My brothers and I each own 1/4. My Mom passed in 1999 and Dad passed 16 months later, leaving everything to be split 4 ways. We also have the original deed, locked in a safe box, written on rice paper and has the signature of John Q. Adams and dated 1827. The original owner was granted 900 acres, all he had to do was fence in the property and build a dwelling on the land.Through the deed, we saw how the families grew and were given land to raise their own crops and families, until the last family only had 1 child, and the farm was sold. My Dad bought the farm in 1954 or 55, and except for building a new home at the very top of the hill, lived in this old house until 1998. The barn has been dismantled, as well as the old milk house, in front of the barn, and the old hog shed behind the barn. It has been sitting vacant since 98 or early 2001.
