The red pin on the map is centered on the Mail Pouch barn in the photo above. The Mail Pouch barn is ID'd as MPB 38-01-01 on the Mail Pouch Barnstormer's website.

This view is looking approximately southward near the intersection of Old Route 30 and US 30 in Franklin Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania. The dirt road that runs alongside of the house that joins Old Route 30 is Newman Road. Newman Road is still largely unimproved (i.e. dirt/tar/chip) and was originally known as Newman Pass. It served as a strategic route for the Confederacy and the Union at the time of the Battle of Gettysburg during the US Civil War.

This link to Google Maps shows the same approximate area at street level.

The house (center left) and the barn (center right) are both still standing but in a state of great disrepair. The house is one of the taverns of fame along Old RT 30 and was built in the early part of the 1800s IIRC by David Newman. At that time it was known as Newman's Tavern. It changed ownership and operators many times through the years. The Mail Pouch Tobacco sign painted on the west side of the barn is still present but very faded and hidden from the Google street view by trees. The upper portion of north facing wall of the barn no longer advertises the Hotel Lamar (which is long gone), but it does retain the remnants of a sign for the Totem Pole Playhouse which still exists and is in operation near Caledonia. The remnants of the sign can be seen in the Google street level view Link above. As a point of interest, Mr. Ed's Elephant Museum, is located almost directly beneath the airplane when it took this aerial picture.
