Photo 42-OBF-24 from 1969

Comments

The Clayton Ritchey Farm - a dairy farm, with an egg business also, owned & operated by Clayton & Alma Ritchey & family from the 1920s through the 50s. These were my grandparents. After that & into the 90s, the farm housed calves & young cattle, & field work continued. The farm was sold after my grandfather passed away. The property is located along Route 26 North, Bedford County, Hopewell Township - directly across the road & field from the Smith School & the Yellow Creek Church of the Brethren. In the upper left corner of this picture is the pond, which had improvements made by the new owner. A second pond was constructed in what is the lower part of this picture. Except for the barn & machine shed, which were both remodeled, the other buildings were torn down. Behind & to the left of the barn, the owner built a huge, modern house.
